Sameera Reddy born on December 14, 1982 in Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh into a Telugu family. Her father Chintapoli (C. P.) Reddy is a businessman,while her mother Nakshatra, a Goud Saraswat Brahmin,referred to as Niki by her daughters and in the media, was a microbiologist and worked with an 
NGO. She has two siblings, Meghna Reddy, a former VJ and supermodel,and Sushma Reddy, herself a Bollywood actress and model,both elder to her.She did her schooling at Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai and graduated from Sydenham College.
Sameera described herself as a "Tomboy" and "the ugly duckling in the family", while citing: "I was plump, had glasses and my glam quotient was rather low till I was 19".She also claimed that she always had been "the calm one" and "most diplomatic" among the sisters and was pampered since being the youngest in the family.
Sameera first appeared in ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas's "Aur Aahista" music video when she was a graduate.
The actress is a trained Kathak dancer.
She caught the attention of Bollywood and was cast in a pivotal role in the 2002 Hindi film Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. In 2004, she appeared in Musafir.

She appeared in the Tamil film Vaaranam Aayiram directed by Gautham Menon, opposite Surya Sivakumar, which was a blockbuster. Reddy's acting and modest portrayal of a confident and down-to-earth girl earned her rave reviews.
  
Sameera has become a household name amongst the 1.6 billion people living in India. As a symbol of fashion, sex, and beauty, Sameera has graced the covers of every magazine and is the subject of many documentaries including the BBC's Spice Trade. 

Sameera is also the first Indian actress to have her own video game, Sameera the Street Fighter. This mobile video game can be downloaded by millions of fans and is available to cell phone users throughout India.

Sameera lives with her parents and two sisters, Sushama (a VJ, model and actress) and Meghana (a supermodel) in Mumbai and spends significant amounts of time with Crayons and Dreamz Homes, her cause for getting homeless children off the streets of India.

 
As a testament to her international appeal Sameera was chosen by the BBC to step in the shoes of Spice Girl Emma Bunton to experience celebrity life in the UK and was asked to be a guest actor on the hit series Casualty.

She informs that the popular Shakira is extremely shy. Once they exchanged greetings, Shakira and Sameera bonded over their penchant for the six yard long, traditional sari and silver jewellery.

Sameera, who was wearing a red sari designed by Neeta Lulla for the occasion says, "Shakira is very shy. We actually, got talking over my red saree and accessories." Our conversation veered on subjects ranging from traditional garb to folk dances like the bhangra.

Later, when Shakira took the stage along with Haitian-American rapper Wyclef Jean she pulled up Sameera and urged her to do some popular bhangra dance moves. This prompted Wyclef to belt out his latest track, 'Bollywood meets Hollywood', (which is in collaboration with music composer Aadesh Srivastava). 

Sameera was born in the Telugu-speaking Reddy family on December 14, 1978. She has two sisters, Meghna and Sushma. The Reddy ancestors hailed from a small town named Rajamundry in the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh.

While still a student in Sydenham College, she sang in Pankaj Udhas' video 'Aashita' with a blond male Caucasian. Then partly influenced by her siblings' success, she bagged some modeling assignments, including Lissome, as well as appeared in a Telugu movie. Plump, hair tied back, and bespectacled, she started working as a Marketing Executive with a multi-national company.

Sameera decided to take her acting career seriously and starting working out, eating the right foods, going to the gym, jogging, Kathak (a dance form in South India), swimming and yoga. She allowed herself 8 hours of sleep everyday and indulged her skin with all kinds of natural ingredients like curd and honey, and generally avoided make-up.

Sameera dhape secret-'I gym and do power yoga for one hour every day. Swimming also helps in a great way. I am very careful about what I eat. I never drink because my body is allergic to it and even oily food is a complete no no for me. As I travel quite a bit, I have to take extra care of my health.'
